An electric retractable pergola is a motorized outdoor shading system that lets you open or close a weatherproof canopy at the touch of a button — no manual cranking, no reaching overhead. Unlike a fixed-roof pergola, it gives you full control: full sun when you want it, complete shade and rain protection when you need it.

Vionta's Electric Retractable Pergola is built on a 6063-T5 aluminum alloy frame — the same grade used in architectural curtain walls — with an Italian-sourced tubular motor hidden inside the shaft. There are no exposed cables, no visible mechanical parts. From the outside, it looks like a clean, modern structure. From the inside, it works exactly when you need it.

Electric Retractable Pergola, designed exclusively by Vionta to offer high performance and durability. With a 120 x 70 mm guide profile and PVC covering , it provides a projection length of up to 6 meters, comfortably covering large areas.

Its sturdy construction makes it the ideal choice for both professional spaces with specific requirements and private residences. Its mechanism is integrated into the shaft, with no visible components, offering impeccable aesthetics and quiet operation.

How the Electric Drive System Works

The motor is a tubular electric actuator rated IP44 — meaning it is splash-proof and fully rated for permanent outdoor installation. It sits inside the winding shaft, invisible from every angle. A single press on the remote extends or retracts the canopy in under 30 seconds across a full 6-meter projection.

Four control options are available, and they can be combined in the same installation:

• RF Remote Control — standard with every unit, range up to 30 m
• Wall Switch — hardwired panel, ideal for fixed commercial installations
• Wind & Rain Auto-Sensor — automatically closes the canopy when wind exceeds a set threshold or rain is detected, protecting the fabric even when no one is around
• Smart Home / Building Automation — compatible with KNX, Zigbee, and most major home-automation platforms on request

In the event of a power outage, a manual override tool is included with every unit. No technician required.

Is the electric motor safe to use in rain?

Yes. The motor carries an IP44 weatherproof rating, designed for permanent outdoor exposure. All wiring connections are sealed, and the control box is housed in a waterproof enclosure. The system operates safely in rain; we recommend auto-closing the canopy before a heavy storm to protect the fabric.

What happens during a power outage?

Every unit ships with a manual override tool. Insert it into the shaft access point and turn — the canopy opens or closes in about the same time as normal operation. No electrician or special knowledge needed.

Can I add the wind/rain sensor after installation?

Yes. The sensor connects to the motor's standard control port and can be retrofitted to any Vionta electric unit. Contact us with your motor model number and we will confirm compatibility.

What custom sizes are available?

Standard module: up to 6 m wide × 5 m projection. Width range: 2.5–8 m (wider than 8 m requires structural review). Projection: modularly extendable — two or more units can be joined side-by-side for larger coverage. Frame color and canopy fabric (PVC / PES / blackout) are both fully customizable. Sample orders are accepted.

What is the warranty?

Structure (aluminum frame): 10 years. Canopy fabric: 5 years. Motor and electrical components: 2 years. Warranty terms are documented in the purchase agreement.
