Surface finish options: powder coat vs. anodizing

Thermosetting polyester powder coat is the most commonly specified finish for porch handrail exports. It is applied electrostatically and cured at 180–200 °C, producing a uniform layer of 60–80 microns. Any RAL color is available with a standard lead time of 15 working days; custom color matching is available on larger orders. All powder coat batches are tested to 3,000 hours salt spray per ISO 9227 before shipment.

Type II sulfuric acid anodizing in clear or bronze produces a hard, integrated oxide layer of 10–25 microns. Australian projects governed by NCC/AS 1170 require a minimum barrier height of 1,000 mm (1 m) for elevated areas; we can confirm dimensional compliance for specific project requirements on request.

Baluster spacing in our standard system is set at a maximum of 100 mm (approximately 4 inches) on center, which keeps clear openings below the 4-inch sphere rule applied in both IRC R312.1.3 and IBC 1015.4. Porch-specific installation considerations
